AMD Computer Deals and Best Sales

Last month, Intel released its latest line of processors, the Ivy Bridge series, and now, AMD has countered with its Trinity line of APUs. While early reviews of the processor series suggest that it falls short of Intel's high standard, the new AMD models will likely result in budget-friendly computers for consumers.

CompUSA offers the AMD 8-Core 3.1GHz Barebones Desktop PC Kit for $424.99. Mail-in rebates of $25, $20, $20, and $10 drop it to $349.99. With $11.11 for shipping, that's $139 under our mention of a similar bundle from two weeks ago (which had a smaller hard drive, but included a 1GB garphics card and stronger power supply) and $126 less than the lowest total price we could find for these items if purchased separately elsewhere.

The kit includes the AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz 8-core Socket AM3+ processor, MSI 760GM-E51(FX) AMD 760 ATX motherboard, two sticks of Corsair XMS3 4GB PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 dual-channel RAM, Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200 rpm internal hard drive, Sony Optiarc 24x DVD burner, and Thermaltake V2 ATX mid-tower case with 450-watt power supply.
